What is the Pomodoro Technique?
Pomodoro is Italian for tomato. Don’t let yourself get distracted by those yummy fruits. In this context it is simply a period of time. Typically about 25 minutes or so.
During a tomato you do one task and one task only.
When the tomato is over you are done and take a 3 to 5 minute break.
During that little break it is important that you relax and do something which is not related to your tasks.
You can look through your emails, make phone calls or walk around and work the muscles a little bit.
After the break your next tomato starts and work on your next task.
The Pomodoro Technique comes down to 5 simple steps.
- Pick a task
- Set the timer to 25 minutes
- Work on the task until the time is up
- Take a 3 to 5 minute break
- Take a longer break after 3 or 4 tomatoes.
